Netflix is Playing Well In the Sandbox with Theatrical Distributors

According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, “Cannes: Netflix Takes Robert Pattinson’s ‘Good Time’ for Multiple International Territories”, Netflix is working with theatrical distributors around the world  to stream films online in territories it does not own all rights to. This is a big shift for the company, that has heretofore not been able to make deals wherein they own the streaming rights, and another company owns the theatrical rights.

As Netflix is becoming a behemoth in the film financing and distribution arena, it is interesting to see how they can integrate their strength with those of key distribution players around the world.
